Our mother and I headed to National Bookstore earlier to look for some magazines with house designs (Digression: We found a horribly ungrammatical one. Nice designs, but embarrassingly poor writing.). To my surprise, there were signs all over the place promoting the R.E.D. Bag, the R.E.D. standing for “Reduce Earth’s Deterioration.”

It costs P65 (or $1.47), but is free with a minimum purchase of P1,000. The bag’s tag also encourages people to “please USE this bag instead of plastic.” It’s a nice first step for National, and hopefully they’ll gradually do away with plastic bags entirely, and even look into organic bags. Great job!
