From Environment America:
According to The New York Times, Vane Minerals, a British mining
company, has received a permit to start exploratory drilling three miles from
the lookout point on the canyon’s southern rim. At the seven Vane
sites, the company will be drilling for uranium. As you might know, hardrock mining for minerals such as gold and
uranium can be a terribly destructive practice, leaving behind giant open
pits and contaminating water with cyanide and strong acids.
Tell Kristopher Hefton, Director of Vane Minerals US to stop plans to mine near Arizona’s Grand Canyon.
