Unplugged

The Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) Company has recently put up some ads promoting their wireless landline phones. It’s really fun, because you can take it out of the house and bring it with you everywhere. Pretty much like a mobile phone, really, or the car phones of old, so that means you’ll never miss a call, whether someone’s calling your mobile or your home phone. Yay, connectivity. *sarcasm*

That’s not the point, though. The ads put me in mind of cordless phones in general. Some time ago, I considered getting a cordless phone to replace the phone in my room, but it occurred to me that, even if it’s just a small extra item powered by electricity, it will still contribute to energy use and power bills.

So that’s pretty much why I chose to forgo cordless phones, for the most part. Can anybody let me know how much power they actually use up? I’d love to have the info.
