The busiest bridge in the world, the George Washington Bridge in New York/New Jersey is getting an eco-friendly make-over. Its cables’ mercury vapor lights are being replaced with LEDs (light-emitting diodes). LEDs last for 12 years, compared with the mercury vapor bulbs which have to be replaced every year.
